MOSES Decisions & Policies

- Will have in the Catalog enfoced vs. advisory prereqs.
- Deans’ offices will approve all prereqs. that will be enforced in Campus Solutions.
- Academic departments will do the overrides if the student is denied in the course due to prereq failure, upon the faculty members approval. As this is not a portal application, faculty will not have the ability to do the override.

- Waitlist controls for freshman – Recommended solution – turn off waitlists for freshman and allow students to enroll in courses above the waitlist; but didn’t have the ability for transfers to waitlist AND enroll in courses above the waitlist. After much testing, we can control a way for both groups to waitlist as appropriate AND enroll in courses above the waitlist. Once it is turned on, people already on the waitlist will not roll in. It is basically the same functionality we have now.
- How are we going to manage course reservation? Sally says we will have a list of students still on the waitlist when they are purged. Will be able to gather the data of only those eligible – it will exist the way it does today.

- Faculty/staff will go to CU Connect or My CU to access DARS. Initially it will be a stand alone system for degree audit. Administrative staff and students will get access through different locations.

- Modification cost too high to include display of total number of students on list; student will see their position number only.
- Decided not to send e-mails each time a students’ waitlist position changed – too many e-mails flooding students’ in boxes.

- Course Waitlist Issues – The estimate skyrocketed to over 200 hours to make a modification for checking edits prior to putting their name on the waitlist as we currently do. We will be able to control the number of hours enrolled in by waitlist or enrollment or both. Thus, SR recommended not making this modification. Consensus from MOSES was to not recommend this modification.
- Can there be some batch reporting that could not count students who are waitlisted (cross listed) to get into another section of the course? This would help analyze the demand for the course and get truer results.
- Can the use of requisites vs. pre-requisites by tested in prototyping?

- Bolt On or Portal Use for Controlling Course Data Entry – Can’t turn off/on access to course scheduling features in CS or control by term. If we change items in CS it could affect student transcript or schedule and modifying security is a nightmare for institutions that have done this so not recommended. SR recommends controlling through a bolt on or via portal. Academic departments would go through self-service portal to do other things as well and can control by term and department. It would be real-time vs. batch processing and this solution would not affect CS software updates. Consensus is to go this route.

- Many groups will be impacted by how this is handled in new system. There are two issues: 1) where it appears in registration (currently it appears prior to registration) and 2) can’t be applied to the bill (currently it is applied to the bill). A major modification would be needed to appear on the bill.
This could possibly go into a payment page “purchase miscellaneous items” like e-commerce. We will be meeting with groups impacted for a discussion (Club Sports, Herd, College of Music, and Theatre and Dance). It was approved to move ahead with the modifications for Student Opportunities to have the charges applied to the bill, and have a presence at (but not block) registration.

The campus will keep the five transcript types currently produced:
