Web Operator Instructions
Faculty and Staff » Web Operator Instructions
For SIS Web Operator, the web address is https://hydra.cusys.edu/pinnacle/operhome.bd.htm
You will be directed to the STUDENT INFORMATION SYSTEM screen. Please read the information on this page before logging in. Access to functions within Web Operator reflects your level of SIS access. If you are denied access, for example, to degree audit information on SIS, you will not be able to access the Degree Progress feature on Web Operator.
After reading terms on this page, click on the following: By logging in, I agree to the terms of this usage .
Enter in your Operator ID and password. The Operator ID will be your first name.last name, all lower case, i.e.; jane.doe. Your password should be the S or the O (must be in upper case) from the SIS logon you were assigned by UIS, and the last 5 digits of your Social Security Number (7 digits for new users). Click submit . For security reasons, we recommend you change your password after you have successfully logged on the first time.
At the top of the next screen, enter either a SID number or a name to do a name search. If doing a name search, enter the last name, comma and then the first name. Click Name Search . This will give you a list of students found matching that name. Choose which student you want by clicking Select next to the appropriate name.
You can now navigate using the blue buttons at the bottom to select the desired function.
- Address - allows you to select student addresses (permanent, mailing or next-of-kin). Click submit after the selection is made. This only allows you to browse the addresses, not update them. Updates are made in SIS. Students can update their addresses via PLUS or at the registrar's office.
- Transcript - allows you to view a student's transcript listing courses in a chronological order as well as transfer credit. You can print a copy of an internal or external unofficial transcript on your system printer.
- Class List - Enter in the requested data.
In your class list if you see a "P" in the column labeled PRIV next to a student's ID number they have privacy on their records. This indicates no information can be released on the student without written permission from the student. Click here for complete information about FERPA (The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act). This privacy information applies to information on all appropriate Web Operator pages.
- Academic Unit of Course - select one of two options: Main campus or Continuing Education.
- Term of Course Offering - Whichever term the desired class list is offered, for example, Fall Semester 2004.
- Select Course Subject or Enter Course Subject Abbreviation
- Select Course Subject - The four-letter abbreviation for the department in which the course is taught. They are in straight alpha order in the drop-down box and are not sorted by college.
OR
- Enter Course Subject Abbreviation - Enter the four-letter abbreviation for the course offered
- Course Number - Enter the four-digit number for the course offered
- Section Number - Enter the three-digit number for the section number (for example, section 1 would be entered 001).
- List Option - Select from the following choices:
- Enrolled Students - a listing of all students who are currently enrolled (Enrl Status = E) in your course.
- Wait-Listed Students - a listing of those who are wait-listed only (Enrl Status = W, appears in alpha order).
- Wait-Listed Students in Wait List Sequence - for those courses that have automatic or re-sequenced wait lists, you will be able to view your wait-listed students in order of priority to be enrolled in your course, as openings occur.
- Enrolled and Wait-Listed Students - View a roster of students who are both enrolled and wait-listed (appearing in alpha order).
- Combined Sections Option:
- Generate Class List for SELECTED Section Only - this will produce a class list for only the section desired, and not both sponsored/non-sponsored sections.
- Generate Roster of the COMBINED SECTIONS - this will produce a class list of both the sponsored and non-sponsored sections, combined into one roster.
- Student Phone Option: Display Phone number - Day, Mailing, Perm order - if you would like a roster that displays phone numbers, you can select this option. This can be useful if you need to call students in classes. The selection order to display is as follows:
- Day - used only by Continuing Education. Most Boulder main campus students will not have a day phone listed on SIS.
- Mailing - the students' local phone number. Boulder collects and stores this information. If no DAY phone exists, the system will default to the next phone number available - in most cases; this will be the Mailing phone.
- Perm - the students' phone number of their permanent residence.
- Do not display students' phone number - use this option if you don't want to see any information.
- Student E-mail Address Option:
- Do not display students' e-mail address - use this option if you don't want it displayed.
- Display students' E-mail address - This will give you a list of e-mail addresses for those students in your class who have e-mail addresses, at which time you can create distribution lists for mailings. For main campus students only, the e-mail address that will be stored will only be the student e-mail address created through the university and stored on the ITS system. Continuing Education students, as well as those from other campuses, may have different e-mail addresses. Students who have e-mail addresses outside the university system may forward their CU e-mail account to their other e-mail address.
NOTE: Please do not attempt to send e-mails to course rosters larger than 200 using WebCT, WebOperator, Listproc or your own e-mail account. Sending bulk e-mails puts a strain on Boulder campus e-mail resources. For more information on Boulder campus electronic communications, please go to http://www.colorado.edu/its/docs/email/bulkemail.html .
Once you have made your selections, you have the choice to display the list on the SIS Web Operator System, or to download the list to your own computer. The downloaded file may be used in a spreadsheet or other software which supports comma-delimited ASCII text. Information on how to proceed is explained in the popup called DOWNLOAD HELP.
