FAQs --- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What should I do if I receive an error message
(?????? followed by text) when submitting a Degree Audit request?
There are several reasons why you may receive an error message. For example, the degree audit for this degree program is not available, the degree program was not offered in the catalog year selected, or there were transmission errors from the student information system to the degree audit. If you cannot access the degree audit and need assistance you should contact your advisor or you may e-mail degreeaudit@colorado.edu.
Do Degree Audits replace advising?
Degree audit reports do not replace advising.
Advisors enhance the advising process by providing timely information about academic programs. The degree audit tracks course and requirement progress, eliminating manual record-keeping and to allow your advisor to spend more time helping you plan your academic goals. Keep in mind any adjustments to be made to your major degree must be approved by the appropriate dean's office. It is a good idea to always bring your degree audit when meeting with your advisor.
I'm thinking of changing my major. How do I view a Degree Audit Report for a program other than my own?
In the new DARSweb degree audit system you can run a “Selected Program” or in PLUS you can run a "What If" audit to see how your course work might apply to another major or degree program. Running a "Selected Program" degree audit does not change your major. If you decide to change your major, see an academic advisor in your new proposed major for an evaluation.
What if I am a Non-degree students and have taken courses through Continuing Education?
You may use degree audit for a listing of completed courses and courses in which you are currently enrolled. Running a ‘What If’ audit could be useful to see the degree audit for programs you are interested in pursuing.
Courses completed at CU prior to summer 1988 are not viewable in degree audit. Please see the academic advisor in Continuing Education or your major program for additional information.
How do I request a degree audit if I am pursuing a Double Degree?
If you are seeking two degrees concurrently (i.e.; BA and BFA or BA and BS), you should request a separate degree audit for each degree at this time.
What is the difference between Double Major and Double Degree?
Double Major: You may have designated a primary and secondary major within the same school or college on campus. For example, you may be studying Psychology and Communications, both within the College of Arts and Sciences. You are a double major student. The new DARSweb degree audit will only reflect one major audit at this time.
Double Degree: You may have elected to study in two different schools or colleges on campus. For example, you may be working on requirements toward a Bachelor of Arts in history in the College of Arts & Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Business with an area of emphasis in Accounting. The latter degree, Bachelor of Science in business, would be considered a secondary degree program because you are studying in a completely different school or college than the primary degree program. In the new DARSweb degree audit system, you may opt to request a degree audit for your default program. If you are a double undergraduate degree student you will receive two audits, one for each degree as indicated on your student record, at this time.
