Concurrent and Intercampus Registration
Concurrent registration enables students to take courses on another University of Colorado campus if they are unable to take the courses required for their degree at CU-Boulder. If you plan to take at least one course at CU-Boulder in the fall and cannot register for all courses required for your degree program, you may be able to register concurrently on another CU campus.
The terms Host campus and Home Campus are used to describe the concurrent registration campuses.
- Host campus: For Boulder campus students, the term "host campus" defines the University of Colorado campus other than Boulder where students are taking concurrent course work.
- Home Campus: A CU-Boulder student's "home campus" is Boulder.
Requirements for Concurrent Registration
To be eligible concurrent registration process, students must:
- Be registered for at least one course the entire semester at the home campus.
- Choose classes that are required for a student's degree program that are unavailable at the home campus.
- Have their dean's permission.
- Enrollment levels must not have been reached on the host campus.
Once eligible students must observe the following restrictions:
- Students cannot register concurrently until the final drop/add period has begun on the other campus.
- Degree students can take up to two courses or 6 credit hours (whichever is greater)
- Graduate students may exceed the six credit hour limit, but cannot exceed credit hours allowed by their college or school.
- Courses CANNOT be taken for pass/fail or no credit.
- Independent study or continuing education courses at the host campus are not available through concurrent registration.

Enrollment Process
Students are charged tuition and fees for course work on all campuses. Students pay tuition and fees for their total University credit hour load to their home campus at home campus rates (i.e. Boulder students pay Boulder tuition rates for all courses).
The entire transaction for Boulder-based students is handled on the Boulder campus. Additionally, concurrent registration for Colorado Springs, Denver, and the Health Sciences Center is completed on the student's home campus, and departments do not need to be called regarding space availability.
All students
- Students pick up the form for concurrent registration from their home campus registrar's office (beginning August 1st for fall semester in Regent 105 for CU-Boulder students).
- After students obtain the concurrent registration form, they should proceed to their deans office. It is the responsibility of the dean's office to determine the student's eligibility. Once this has been verified the dean should sign the concurrent form.
- The registrar's office will determine if space is available, and if so, enroll the student in the requested course during the drop/add period of the host campus.
- Before the deadline, a student may drop/add a course taken concurrently at the home campus registrar's office.
- After the deadline, a student must secure a host-campus special action form plus the appropriate signatures and turn the form in to the home campus registrar's office.
- Once enrolled students must be aware that services at the host campus will not be available, because they do not pay the required fees (if any) for these services.
Graduate students:
- Graduate students (except those at Health Sciences Center) must have their advisor’s approval. They must secure a letter from their advisor stating that the courses they wish to take concurrently are required for their degree.
- Students in certain graduate programs are exempted from registering at their home campus (contact the registrar's office for a list of these programs.) The student will then take the signed concurrent form to the Office of the Registrar, Regent 105.
- Check with the Office of the Registrar for exceptions to the home-campus registration requirement and limitation on credit hours at the host campus.
- Graduate students can also participate in the Reciprocal Exchange Program.

Intercampus Registration
If you want to take course work on another University of Colorado campus but not go through the concurrent registration program, apply for admission to that campus, and follow its registration procedures. Check with your dean's office for approval. (Students in the College of Arts and Sciences may not register at the Denver or Colorado Springs campus except in the summer.)
