Credit Hour Limits and Course Load Definitions
- During the Registration Period: Undergraduate students can register for a maximum of 19 credit hours including wait-listed courses. There is a maximum 15 credit hours for graduate students and 18 credit hours for law students.
- During the Final Drop/Add Period: Beginning the Friday before the first day of classes, undergraduates are allowed to register for up to 21 credit hours, including wait-listed courses, except for the College of Engineering has an 18 credit hour limit.
For undergraduate students, 12 credit hours is considered a full-time load for financial aid and for enrollment verification purposes.
Graduate students qualify for full-time status for enrollment verification purposes if they are enrolled for 5 or more hours or any number of thesis hours. Law students need 10 or more hours for full-time status. Check with the Office of Financial Aid for full- and part-time status definitions for graduate students.
