Receive Your Invitation to Register

Registration Info » Receive Your Invitation to Register

All new and readmitted students
will receive a personalized invitation to register either in the mail (mailed to their mailing address) or at orientation (if required).

The Invitation to Register Includes:

  • SID and PIN - The SID (student ID number) and the PIN (personal identification number) are needed in order to access many web and phone services on campus. Memorize your SID and PIN as they remain the same throughout your career at CU-Boulder. If you have questions about your SID or PIN, wish to change your PIN, or have forgotten your SID or PIN number, see Student ID Number, PIN and IdentiKey.
  • Registration Time Assignment - This is the date and time you can begin registering for courses. You can register any time after your time assignment begins through the registration deadline (see the Registration/Academic Calendar for specific dates). It is to your advantage to register as soon as possible after your registration time assignment begins.
  • Advising Notice - If required by your college or school, consult with an advisor before registering. Student-athletes may be required to contact their academic coordinator at the Herbst Academic Center before registering.
  • Other Stops - Stops are holds that the university puts on student records for various reasons. Stops may originate from delinquent financial obligations, academic concerns, or disciplinary matters. If you have any stops on your record, you are not allowed to register until you have cleared them all. Be sure to clear all stops at least 24 hours before your registration time assignment begins.

Step 1 for Continuing Students: View Registration Eligibility Status

Beginning February 26, 2008 you can view your fall semester 2008 registration time assignment, advising requirements that need to be cleared, and other stops in web registration.

  • How to sign in to web registration - go to CUConnect. Log in with your IdentiKey then choose the Courses tab and then select "Register for Classes" (under Schedule and Grades). Next select the Reg. Status tab at the bottom of the screen. You can then select the semester you are registering for.
  • Viewing Registration time assignment and Stops -
    • All advising requirements and stops will appear once you select the semester for which you want to view your registration status. Advising requirements and stops need to be cleared before you can register.
    • Your registration time assignment only displays if your registration time has not yet begun. It will not show on the web registration status page after your registration time has started. View Time Assignment Information for additional information.
