The first semester you don’t register for classes, or the semester you register and withdraw from classes is your “Start” TOP semester. Remember you’re subject to the withdrawal deadlines if you register.

The “Early Application Deadline” is the deadline to be assured of a continuing student registration time if you’re only going to be gone one semester.

The “Final Application Deadline” for a semester is the last date to apply for TOP for the semester you begin TOP.

The “May Return” date is one semester off, returning the semester following your “start” time off term.

The “Must Return” date is two semesters from your start term - returning an academic year after the semester you begin TOP. The Time Out Program is for one academic year.
